Where did we come from?

We have a long history in the financial services industry.
ORB was originally launched in 2003 with a capital guaranteed structured technology fund co-created with Citigroup known as ORB Technology.

In 2004, ORB was made known to financial professional services firms throughout Australia and New Zealand with the launch of the first listed capital guaranteed structured equity product known as ORB International Enhanced Listed Deferred Securities or ORB Yields. This product was co-created with Citigroup and raised over AUD$300 million in that year. The final ORB product, ORB Choice, was launched in 2005 as a capital guaranteed listed structured equity product co-created with Credit Suisse.

As a result of the crash of the Australian Stock Market following the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) the ORB products were one of the highest performers because of having a capital guarantee from some of the largest global banks in the world. Whilst no further products were issued by ORB post 2005, relationships with funders within the network were maintained.

In 2020, ORB was proud to relaunch as an alternative funder, assisting financial services professionals fulfil funding requirements for their companies.

In 2022 we decided to change our name to represent our unique offering, backed by a large, aggregated group of funders. ORB Relationship Funding encompasses our hands-on approach to closing deals.

What is “relationship funding?”

At the end of the day, it is people investing in people. Relationship funding is about connecting people with people. ORB is not associated with or limited to institutions or specific contacts.

Our network reaches far and wide. Similar to pieces on a chess board, certain funding providers can only move in certain directions. Whereas, ORB is like the queen on the chess board, able to move around the whole board.

Because of this ability we have access to the skills and resources of the other pieces on the board. We have connections to brokers, banks, alternative lenders, family offices, private lenders, venture capital.

The sun never sets on the ORB funding ecosystem. We don’t just build the bridge, we are the bridge. If a bridge is not enough, we are the boat.
